I'm considered the bad guy when I tell people to concentrate on getting better. Stop blaming your teammates for everything. It isn't always 100% your teammates fault when you lose. You could have did something to lose that game. People treat me like I'm some horrible shit poster for telling people to take some responsibility for their rank. It's crazy.

It's never that blunt. I say things like,"Think about all you did that game. If it's close and you lose maybe you made a crucial mistake that didn't seem that big. Try to reduce those as much as possible."

That isn't shit advice.

Because it's an online competitive multiplayer game

Actually being competitive isn't even required. The Destiny community is pretty bad too and it's mostly cooperative.

I've noticed this in watching streamers. When they miss a hit/shot or fail some sort of timed event they always seem to blame the game lol. Like there's always an excuse for why something went wrong and it's never "oops I fucked up that time." Always some other reason.

I always critique myself before others. Maybe I mad a mistake. Maybe I flat out didn't play good enough. That mindset is absent for most of the community though.

Yes it is. It's non-specific and unactionable. It's like coaching a failing Little League team and saying "Think about why we lost and everything you did during the game. Do less of that and do more stuff that will make you win."

Because people try to turn a casual game into a competitive one.

With abilities that remove most of the work in securing a position or kill, Overwatch is insanely easy to pick up and play. It really comes down to luck. Who was lucky enough to press E/Shift/RMB/Q first?

It isn't like I have gameplay of each person to analyze. You also dumbed it down to a absurd level. When I say think about the game and possible mistakes you need to actually do that.

Did you use your Ult st the wrong time and waste it?
Did you prioritize the wrong person in a team fight?
Why did you prioritize that person?
Did you take the high ground in certain fights that require it as a win condition?
Should you have switched heroes?

Those are just a few things that you can think about. Telling you to replay the match in your head and think about what you could have done different isn't shit advice. Especially with what I had to work with.

That's some vague-ass advice.

If you don't really have anything specific to say, like "Everyone take shots of opportunity against Pharah, don't only leave it to Soldier" then it's better to not say anything.

The only time 'get gud' is good advice is when someone is just spraying bullets everywhere like a 4 year old. Sometimes it can be really hard to give someone actual good advice though if you aren't paying close attention to what they're doing. I usually won't say anything unless I can point to something specific like staggering deaths or what have you.

That's the point. You don't know anything about the actual match and yet you are acting like it's your responsibility to teach these people to win. Your advice does boil down to, "git gud" even if that is not what you are saying. You advice is to do less of what loses and matches and more of what wins them. Like someone else said, that is just prettying up, "git gud".

It is an online game, where you don't ever meet each other, why blame themselves? Most people are going to blame everything else before themselves. It is just human nature, it is never their lack of skills, it is always something else.

Most games are like that. It's just more evident because the game is designed to be extremely team-based. In CSGO if you guys lose, it's easy to blame your team because theres like 12 of you and casual play doesn't necessitate complex and organized grenade plays and movement.

It's usually pretty easy to tell what/who lost the match.

Like the attack torb/sym

The hanzo that didn't combo his ult once

The genji that died to their winston 10 times without switching

The DPS who doesn't even have bronze damage

Sure everybody could take a minute and think about how they could picked up the slack, but when it comes down to it, it was ^that person's fault. Or multiple people's faults.
