I dunno, alot of people hate this game, youtube personalities talk down on it (I remember HVGN considered it a "Confession" to admitting he liked the game)

but like

I don't really get it. Do you play Elmo's ABCs and then complain its too easy?

I also don't think Square was being arrogant enough to where they were trying to insult the player's intelligence

its an easy ass RPG with most of the tropes there for people that don't usually play that kind of game. With some kickass tunes


is it really worth that much contempt?

Its worst aspect is its simplicity; that aside, I thought the game was fine.

I liked it. I remember at one point you had to get an axe or something to chop down a tree, and I was like "wow, so advanced!"

Honestly, it was a solid game and I remember it fondly from my older childhood.

Was it a great game? No. Was it good? Yes.

Always liked FFMQ, fun for what it is, and some great soundtracks. If you want amusement, watching the FFMQ tournament showed me some amusing bugs in the game (beyond dark king) like being able to skip the entire fireburg zone beyond just going to the town.

im still mad my copy of mystic quest was broken and would always freeze just after entering the ice waterfall

but everytime i played, i could go ever so slightly farther. it was such a troll.

It's a fun easy RPG with a simple story. I mean people love Super Mario RPG which can be described in a pretty similar way so yeah I don't really get it either.

I dislike it. It's bland and a grind, although I made it worse by fighting too many enemies.

Why would anyone hate it? It was designed for people new to RPGs to help make the genre more popular, and I think it fulfills it's purpose wonderfully. It's like hating slow-pitch softball.

Plus the music is rocking. It's a fine game

it was my first RPG and i really enjoyed it. served its purpose well.

the one legit complaint people might have is that we got that instead of FFV. but even then, we got it eventually and hardly anyone was even aware of it at the time to be missing it.

I did like how it had "Zelda" elements of weapons doing things outside of battle.

Yeah I liked this, I also liked how the main character had this habit of looking at you and shrugging when something bad or stupid happened

Just a fun game all around

I never beat it. Got sick of it in the final dungeon. Too much grinding. Music was superb. Enjoyed it for the most part to that point other than too much grinding. Simplicity never bothered me about it.

Even as someone who actually liked FF12, I can't agree with this statement.

There's just something about the stupid simple fun that Mystic Quest gives you, where FF12 basically makes you work for every single little thing.

I never played it. My problem is that Square released that here instead of Final Fantasy V. It's water under the bridge since they've released all of the games here in one form or another.

It's like the music that RPGMaker comes with.

It is a 5/10 game at best.

Too simple and short to be rated any higher. There is nothing outstanding it does nor does it do anything really bad. The very definition of an easy mediocre JRPG.

I thought the reason people disliked it was because it was supposed to be babby's first final fantasy, so I could get if they were expecting something different.

I knew to expect that, but I mean... Mario RPGs were brought up. Those are simple and easy, but they're anything but bland in presentation and have a lot of depth and unique elements. Mystic Quest has a few things going for it, but as a game I didn't have much fun playing it.

Never played it but I like the songs that got into Theatrhythm.
