It's odd. From what I've read, the points for COMG are skewed against Nintendo games. Meaning 800 points are actually more than 800k pre-orders? They keep track of 16 stores and their pre-orders.

It makes me wonder about the replies in that tweet. I think they think 1 point is less than 1k pre-order, but supposedly that only applies to Sony games. It might definitely be a million pre-orders, but COMG doesn't seem like that reliable of a source.

In any case, the actual numbers are probably super high

I'm haven't because I hate competitive multiplayer games with a burning passion.

My friend is borderline begging me to get it, but he's part of the reason why I hate multiplayer games in the first place, and playing Splatoon with him reinforced that.

Yeah, the first Splatoon almost sold 5 million during its lifetime. For a new IP debuting on the Wii U of all consoles, that's crazy.

I expect the sequel to sell a bunch of copies as well especially since there isn't much to play for the Switch right now.

This is pretty surprising, since Mario Kart 8 and Zelda: BoTW have only reached 500k recently in Japan.

If it does sell 1 million on it's first week, the that would be pretty big as the last non-Nintendo game that sold 1 million was Final Fantasy XV for the PS4 and that took weeks just to get there.
