Pot of Greed is the strongest and most versatile card ever printed. I'm not shitposting for the meme, even Infernity would run 3 Pot of Greed if it could.

But I can't believe you didn't list Harpies Feather Duster or Cold Wave

Spellbinding Circle doesn't belong on the list tbh, it was OK at some time I'm sure but nothing like anything else mentioned

Definitely Raigeki.

Literally just wipe out your opponent's entire monster field. No extra prerequisites or any other bullshit. Just play a single card and they're all gone.

It was "balanced" by rarity, which doesn't mean shit when you can just outright buy the card.

There was a time where there was no banlist. For a long time actually. AFAIK Yugioh is decently unique with its extended and almost monthly banlist.

It only happened because of Chaos Emperor Dragon -> Witch of the Black Forest -> Yata-Garasu

Chaos: a whole archetype banned for being too bullshit

Well the first ban list was September of 2003 and we got the orginal Yugioh Starter Deck in 2004. So outside of Japan, Exodia has always been limited.

Summoned skull wasn't even that OP. There were similar atk single-tribute cards like cyber tech alligator and Frostosaurus (which is even stronger) around after not too long, from memory.

Pot of Greed gets my vote. Raigeki was pretty broken too, as well as exodia decks with no banlist.

Pot of Greed is notable because it seems benign at first glance. A draw two effect doesn't seem as strong as preventing all attacks for three turns or wiping all of your opponents monsters.

But the fact is that card advantage (having more cards in your hand) is a huge part of card games and getting it for free is a major power swing when you draw it.

I mean the Gwent game is designed entirely around the concept of keeping card advantage vs putting more power out.

I would certainly say it's stronger than Raigeki, especially considering all the protection in the modern game. Back then, it was good sure, but not massively better than Mirror Force, and if someone was shitposting 4+ monsters against you, you're probably gonna lose anyway. Meanwhile Monster Reborn means whatever your biggest play was Or the beater you Graceful Charity'd comes back at no cost

Pot of Greed is ridiculous because it's just free deck thinning at the cost of adding 2 probably just as useful cards into your hand. Imagine 3 Pot of Greed though, and it becomes a game of who drew more Pot of Greeds. If a PoG draws PoG, then you get 4 cards and thinned 6 cards from your deck. And it's free +1 and more

Literally draw 2 cards, nothing more. Simple but deadly.

I played casually and mirror force was super bs, if you knew your opponent had it you were basically forced to have an answer for it at all times, and you could easily lose the game on it if you couldn't counter it

Sangan got off the banlist recently, but he was also errated. It goes something like "you can't use the card you get from this effect until the next turn"

Witch of the Black Forest was even stronger and went on the banlist way earlier due to more good cards having bad DEF than ATK

Nowadays they're kinda slow

Seems fair. If you ran both of those cards you could draw your much needed clutch monsters in a few turns. I used them to pull Cyber Jar and Spear Cretan for an absolutely disgusting combination.

This topic reminds me of the fact that I was a giant shithead when it came to playground Yu-Gi-Oh duels.

So many duplicates of mentioned cards. Three Pots of Greed and to be even more annoying I had three Jar of Greeds as well. Monster reborn was also one of my staples.

Eventually played in an anything goes local tournament and got my shit pushed in. Built an actual deck afterwards although when shit got complicated as hell I dropped out.

That's all it does. It's spell a card that lets you draw 2 cards. No downsides and nets you +1 cards which helps give you card advantage. And if you ever played any TCG you should know how important having more cards than your opponent is. Also it thins you deck which helps you draw cards you need later on.

I made a post earlier explaining my mistake, I looked at the wrong dates because Worldwide release is not equal to NA release.

I'm pretty sure Kaiba and Yugi were the first starter decks followed by Pegasus later.

I kinda voted Mirror Force being bullshit because that's a shitty trap card that pretty much rekts your entire offensive and plays mind tricks on you. Raigeki was pretty much banned too since I wouldn't think I'll be encountering it anytime soon back then.
