Whoa, you have a point, but that's not how I meant it lol. I wonder, really, what the biggest push was to our culture to jack up the divorce rate? My first thought is media and the "love at first sight" "soul mates 4ever" "relationships are ezpz" junk.

probably a mix of things

-women gained more rights and could work easier meaning less dependence on a husband (can leave unhappy marriages and not be screwed)
-free love movements saying just bang and have fun, no marriage needed
-shift from being as religious so if you divorced your wife you don't get ostracized and feel bad all Sunday morning in church as people stare you down and say you going to hell
-growing perception that life is about you, your fun, your wants and needs and if other people get in your way (your husband\wife) screw them
- to the point above people used to marry for the benefit of the family, now people seek a partner for most fun to be had

i feel bad for both of them and i don't think anyone should be looked at negatively here. You could call him shallow all you want but you never know what it was truly about. There could be a lot more to it emotionally.

2 months later. Like I said its hard for me to just write him off as your average shallow jerk...That being said he is a jerk for leaving his daughter....is he still in her life?

Those are all good points, as well, and ones I haven't thought of.

Husband's a piece of shit. I mean, yeah, to be blunt, there's no denying that she's unattractive and undoable now and I wouldn't even judge him if he divorced her and found someone else or even cheated, but to leave behind the person you supposedly loved and your own god damn child (assuming she's his ofc, idk) so that they're left to be homeless and deal with all the other problems they have by themselves? They're going through what is probably the worst thing that has ever happened to them and he's not gonna support them in the slightest? Fuck that guy. He obviously only gives a shit about himself and couldn't give a fuck about her or his kid. Like I said, its one thing to find another woman or to not wanna be sexually involved with her anymore, but another thing entirely to say "fuck you, I'm out, deal with this yourselves" to your own wife and child when they're down. Guy is scum.
