To be fair, warcraft hasn't really been going places either. I would be shocked if they actually made Warcraft 4. If they make a new side-game like Hearthstone these days, it would probably be branded with Overwatch, not Warcraft. Half Life is dead; all of the Half Life writers have left Valve now. I believe it was Quake that started the online speed running scene, because it allowed you to save replays and the replays were small enough to share over slow internet connections of the 90s. Back when I was speedrunning, Quake websites were where Super Metroid people would upload our speed run videos, because they were way bigger than us, and had video uploading in 2001 (hard to find!)
