20 y/o Heifer, Jalen Perez RAPED her FEMALE Friend and then CATFISHED them by using 3 different fake accounts posing as male students at Colorado State to try and convince them that she did nothing wrong to them!!

She told police that the first 2 fake accounts was to find out her friend's opinion of her and the 3rd was so it looked like she was talking to a boy..

One of the girls Jalen catfished accused her of raping her while she was drunk as she remembers Jalen inserting her fingers into her and climbing on top of her after a party..Jalen kept asking her if she was "blacked out" and later said she would be mad if she wasn't blacked out. Jalen also kept asking her if she remembered anything that night

Jalen maintains that the only sexual activity that night between the "best friends" was that it was a "weird kiss".

The best friend was then convinced by one of the fake personas by Jalen to not report what happened that night as they kept saying she did "nothign wrong".

The victim noticed something wasn't right when they would mention a song to the catfish accounts and Jalen would then start listening to them and ultimately busted herself!!

Jalen was the only person to have ever meet these men irl and pretended to be a fraternity but none of the men knew who was he was.

The victim became suspicious and went to the fraternity for answers and they too became suspicious since they could not find the fake men in the CSU student directory and finally she knew she was being catfished.

I avoided most forms of social media until about 2005, and I was sort of weirded out by some people on Myspace. This gypsy girl (a real one) kept saying stuff like "if I just showed up at your front door one night, what would you do?" but it came across as more aggressive than playful, and it put me on edge despite her being attractive. We talked a lot and she was my first friend on there, but there was this strange vibe. I know she was who she presented herself as, but I got this pseudo Patrick Bateman vibe some days, like she had a mental illness but was extremely good at concealing it. To sum her up best, she was like the "devil" girl from The Ninth Gate, in both looks and in causing me slight discomfort with a side of intrigue. I tried to find her again out of curiosity a few years ago, but forgot her name and the username she used got me nowhere. We were friends for a couple of years, so you'd think that spookiness I felt would've subsided, but it never did.

The internet definitely used to creep me out. I only began using Myspace because my friend strong-armed me into it with his actual lawyer skills. Now I tend to keep to myself again, but it's mostly because I don't really put myself out there.

Impersonation or misrepresentation might be a bit closer. It's also worth noting that the term strictly applies to romantic interactions or intent.

Given that there's a whole show about it and it made headlines a few years ago when a football player got catfished (which was *heavily* referenced in the Daily Show afterward, among other shows), it's kinda surprising that people haven't heard the term.
