What is Game of the Month Club?
Game of the Month is a community project open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a select few games every month. The games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck)

The Basics
- Each month will feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each game you beat, you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's games is usually around a week before the end of the month
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules
- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You can receive up to three more nominations in a month for each chosen game that you beat
- Each game you nominate has to be different from both your and other users' noms and cannot include a game that has already been selected for GotM
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a chosen game after the drawing for next month's games but before the end of the month

I like it overall but what the f*** why is there not an ability to save during a run ALA FTL

Are dungeons long or anything? I was under the impression that the game was a much more forgiving roguelike and has dungeons that are of appropriate length, so I'm hoping that the lack of mid-dungeon saving is somewhat mitigated by other factors.

They weren't too bad length wise that I needed it but I still dislike not having the suspend save style thing in any game.

After deciding to buy a Switch yesterday and two hours of driving around for one, I picked one up with Zelda. Will be starting when I get home.

I got through the first dungeon of Sproggiwood without hassle. I have died four times in the second dungeon though, mostly to the giants. It doesn't help that the blue jellies leave poisonous residue on the floor that can make things difficult in a room with a bunch of monsters.

I made it to the swamp area. This game is kicking my ass. I might cop out and lower it to easy as I get further.

I'm "cheating" by replaying old dungeons on easy so I can reach several goals to get coins to unlock stuff. I'm hoping that by doing this I can continue going through each new dungeon on normal.

I am up to The Floating Isles in Sproggiwood, but I am getting my ass handed to me on the very first floor, even on easy.

I had to resort to lowering the difficulty to easy, but at least I am now on the second-to-last dungeon, if the map is fully accurate!

I just beat Ys II, which I wanted to play before Ys Origin, so that's good.

As of right now, I'm planning to play Ys Origin, but I'll probably wait until the last weekend of the month in some vain hope there will be a random sale on Steam.

I'm playing Zelda, and I'm absolutely loving it. I've gone through two divine beasts. Not sure how far into the game I am since I'm playing completely blind.

The sense of discovery is amazing. I've been getting tired of all the open world games, but exploring the world is the most fun I've had since Skyrim, probably more so.

KCF has beaten Sproggiwood

I finally broke through Uppmas Point after a dozen or so attempts, and I beat the final dungeon on my first attempt. Go figure. That last boss was crazy, but luckily, I brought the right class with me.

The Farmer is basically my default class, and luckily that is the one that you start the game with. He has an ability that scares away all non-bosses and when you max it out, it causes all non-bosses to fight each other. Non-bosses will even attack bosses, so I took advantage of that and another ability that restores health to victory.

My class inequality:
Farmer > Vampire > Magician > Archer > Warrior > Thief (completely useless)

Overall, I have positives feelings toward the game. I typically do not care for roguelikes because they tend to be heavy on the RNG and artificially inflate their length with punishing design (Rogue Legacy might be the biggest offender that I've played). Luckily, Sproggiwood lets you keep all the coins that you collect and item costs are fixed unless you invest a building that lowers their cost. Unfortunately, the city building aspect has no other value, but that's a minor problem.

The yellow linked fish and the orange cap mushrooms can go to hell. They were directly involved in probably 80% of my deaths in the game.

Done a ton of stuff in Zelda, ready to enter three of the four divine beasts, pulled the master sword out, completed a ton of shrines, etc, etc.

The Ensi dungeon in Sproggiwood is giving me a ton of trouble :|

I have a hard time attaching names to dungeons since they use four different styles for 10 dungeons (forest, swamp, mountain, ice). Is it a mountain dungeon? Those were by far the most difficult for me.

Decided to give Hyrule Castle a go.

Man, does the Master Sword feel SATISFYING to use here!

Anyway, got to the final boss (rush, as I haven't cleared the divine beast dungeons yet).
Made it as far as Dark Beast Ganon, but have to get some sleep tonight, so that'll be it for tonight. I'll... probably go after the remaining memories and clear the divine beasts before actually beating the game, but at least the option to take on the final boss whenever is there!
