I think were getting to the point where he is the PERFECT Vince replacement if he wants to be. Hes still jacked and thanks to his....pedigree <_<.... he could still believably mix it up with the champ. And has the heel mic charisma to seriously be that kind of a force.

This is why I'm glad I only watch Wrestlemania now.

When I heard DX came back I tuned in because, well, as a kid of the 90s, if you didn't tell someone in your life to SUCK IT and then crotch chop you weren't a real person. Then I saw Triple H being a cheered on Face and I turned it off. I understand that they would get cheered no matter what at this point because the smarks in the audience see DX with the largest pair of rose tinted glasses of all time, but Triple H can NOT be a face.

Ever. He has spent over 15 years crafting the greatest heel persona of all time and should be respected as such.

The Two Biggest Mark Outs of My Life...In The Same Match

After the Mick Foley write-up I'm going to try to keep these brief for you guys because deep down I know I could pull 3-4 posts off of this. This match is to Charisma and Presence what HBK/Flair was to Professionalism and Performance. While HBK/Flair had storytelling and in-ring maneuvering, this match was a match of moments. A match that gave us everything we wanted.


1.I have seen Hulk Hogan "Hulk Up" 1,000 times. But somehow this was the biggest one. I've watched this 30 seconds probably 50 times and it always gives me goosebumps. I think its how excited the crowd gets, that moment where in-ring storylines stop mattering, where wrestling stops mattering, and the inner Hulkamaniac in all of us bursts out. We don't care that Hogan is a backstage maniac, that he's hurt wrestling as much as he helped it. All we remember is being 4-5 years old and worshiping this man as a GOD.

2.Watch the crowd boo the Rock, then watch him stand over Hogan and prepare the people's elbow and those SAME FRONT ROW FANS LOSE THEIR MINDS. It's incredible. The back and forth of this crowd wasn't concocted. We loved both people so much that we couldn't decide who we actually wanted to win.


Cena/Rock could never be like this because most Cena fans just love the Rock more. Point blank period. But Rock/Hogan? That separated fans like no match I've ever seen before or since.

Rock/Hogan was my favourite match ever until I started watching again in an entirely different sort of way. It's still probably top 10 or 15 or something though.

Well you shouldn't be watching the show thinking about backstage stuff anyway. <_<

As someone who was never a Hulkamaniac I never had that connection, but I still definitely appreciate Hogan's work, especially in big time matches like this.

Despite all his evil deeds, despite all his nefarious actions, Hollywood Hulk Hogan is still Hulk Hogan, and when the crowd gets behind Hogan, he is invincible, and that's played to INCREDIBLE effect in this match.

Speaking of great No Way Out matches/Triple H being a godly heel...



Even me, a huge mark who legit thought it was real then (I may have been in denial at that stage though), and thought HHH had actually hired Rikishi to run over Austin...I was rooting for Triple H in this match. >_>

I don't know why. I just thought he was cool as f*** and I wasn't enamoured with Austin at all, especially since The Rock just...was better.

And then Triple H won. I thought he had no chance. It was amazing. This is, probably, my favourite match.

Also, watching that Hulk-up sequence, Rock had the best god damned sell of the Legdrop I've ever seen. That was literally PERFECT.

Quite a contrast to his belovedly hilarious oversell of Stunners.

His stunner sell is one of the reasons I love The Rock more than any other wrestler (apart from Jericho and, now, Punk).


Speaking of Jericho my love for him probably started when he won that ladder match with Benoit at the Rumble in 01. Then he was just the goddamn boss for the rest of the year to the point that I almost rooted for him in his feud with The Rock, and loved him as undisputed champion (even when I was in a phase where I, on the whole, didn't like heels - HHH and Jericho were basically the only exceptions).

The original creepy stalker angle

This angle has been attempted multiple times since then, but really only the original turned out well. The Cheryl roberts angle was a pretty great blood feud. The charming and handsome " Ravishing" Rick Rude makes a sustained pass for the affections of the more everyman looking Jake Roberts' wife Cheryl. The big moment of which was Rick Rude wearing custom monogrammed tights with Cheryl Roberts' face on them. Just a fantastic moment, but perhaps even better is the moment i post here, where Jake makes him pay for it!

this is the ULTIMATE goosebumps moment in wrestling history

Guessed Eddie/Brock before clicking the link, wasn't disappointed. Eddie's title win over Brock Lesnar is one of my favorite moments in wrestling history. It was the ultimate **** you to Brock, who was considering leaving at the time, and Eddie had deserved a world title for a long time.

My favorite WCW Monday Nitro match ever:
This was one for the ages, as two of Canada's finest wrestlers were paying a tribute to their brother and friend Owen, who had died in the same arena five months earlier. The crowd loved it, the viewers at home loved it, and the emotions were huge in this match. Easily my favorite match on Monday Nitro, and probably one of my 10 favorite WCW matches period.

He took everything they threw at him and turned it on them. They sing for him to leave he sits down and lets them know who is in control. They cuss him out, he calls them out for it. I am truly amazed no one charged the ring and attacked him by the end of it.

Shawn Michael's Heel Work is the stuff of legend. He and Montreal deserve each other like The Rock and Toronto. Those crowds MEAN SOMETHING and both wrestlers showed their appreciation by giving them a show they'll never forget.


Paul Heyman is a Genius Sometimes:


He's not perfect, he's made some mistakes, but Paul Heyman has a gift for the moment. He knows when he has something great and he knows how to capitalize on it.

Perfect example here. Brock Lesnar debuted when I had become a teenage smark. I watched wrestling picking apart the angles, predicting winners, laughing at the kind of matches I used to cheer for, etc.

But for 30 seconds Brock Lesnar turned me into a mark again. Heyman engineered a perfect debut.
