The real tragic thing about this piece is that it missed its only chance to get used. It was probably going to be used for the unfinished Rose/Vriska vs. Jack flash, but that never happened. Sad now.

Clockstopper is the best. If that ever shows up in the comic I will do an acrobatic f***ing pirouette right off the handle.

Sunslammer is not my favorite (still very good), but it fit really damn well with the Strife Flash it was in.

Also, the feeling I got when I heard the first couple notes of English start playing in the Act 5 Intermission update. I didn't have to see anything happen before I got chills.

That said, I'm not the biggest fan of Vol. 9. It's fine, but there's no real standouts.

I have a feeling the Juju is Clover somehow. Every other character with a ? in the dead page has turned out to be alive, so I wouldnt be suprised if Clover made a return.

I don't know how many people listen to so much of the discography as often as I do.

I do. I listen to music 90% of my waking hours, so although I'm not at all Homestuck-exclusive, I've probably listened to every song a dozen times or more.

And a thousand shames on the people in this thread who don't even listen to the music that's not in the comic.

Most of the best songs are not, or are cut down to small segments when used in the comic.

Nah, it wasn't. There is an unfinished piece floating around one of the musicians' blogs that was supposed to be used. It would follow At The Price of Oblivion which would be used for Rose's part obviously.

But the biggest offender for a song that lacks a flash is obviously RDA. The good news is that the fans are making it!

This isn't the entertainment industry. This is a fan project for a webcomic done for a laugh. There's a difference. In a professional production, yes you would have a point. In an amateur one? It's just elitist and pretty cruel.

And how do you expect that people get good in the first place? Working in things like this encourages talent and grants necessary experience. Do you even think before you post? I have never encountered anyone as hilariously insensitive on this board as you, and this board has a lot of douchebags. Here's the thing: I'm not one of those silly, overly sensitive people but I do have some sense of decency. Almost everything you say has some kind of backhanded elitist comment towards someone, because you always need to assert how much better you are, don't you? Believe it or not, not knowing every minute detail about a webcomic doesn't mean you have nothing to contribute to the discussion. Not being an ultra high quality artist doesn't mean you can't work on fan productions. Seriously, dude, think about what you say, because it just makes you look foolish.

Also, in reply to your previous post, as I said earlier I and a lot of people don't listen to that much music outside of the comic because we don't want musical spoilers. That's why. Something you yourself have spoken about by the way!

People are putting some serious effort into this thing though, if you'd take a look at what they've got so far. Don't you realize that the people who do s***tty jobs are actively ruining it for the others? One ugly part can bring an entire animation down.

Also, I'm not glorifying myself. I set high standards for everything and expect the most out of everyone, including myself. I am a perfectionist and dedicated to my work, but you can be sure I slam myself as much as I do everyone else when I do a bad job at something. Setting unrealistically lofty expectations is something that's required in my line of work, where 16 hour work days are common.

It is my philosophy that nothing should be done half-assedly. You should commit fully to everything you do. Which brings us to the matter of Homestuck again.

Yes, if you are a fan of Homestuck you should do research and make sure you understand the plot completely! Yes, you should listen to all the music, because it gives lots of valuable insight! And to your information, most of the music doesn't appear in albums before long after it's used in the comic, so there's no need to fear spoilers.

I am not one to believe in half measures.

But there's things that should be taken seriously, and then there's things that are fun. Believe it or not, taking things too seriously can actually make them less fun! What is even the point of leisure time if it feels like work? If people don't enjoy doing what you say, they shouldn't do what you say. You can enjoy Homestuck without reading everything there is to know about it, or listening to all the songs. Yes, that can enhance it, but it can also add nothing or even make things worse for certain people. It depends on the person.

And about the flash project. It's an amateur production, done for fun. It doesn't have to have these lofty standards because then it stops being fun. Look, I engage in amateur productions myself. I happen to perform operettas as part of a society. I am not the world's greatest singer, but I'm welcome anyway because we can still put on a good show (better than a few professional companies, in truth), and most importantly, have a good time doing it. And because of that I've actually improved immensely and become a lot more confident as a performer. This is the same sort of thing. It doesn't need to be perfect, because there are more important things involved.

It gives people an outlet for their artistic ability and experience that will both help these people improve and give them more confidence in their hobby. And most importantly, it's a fun activity. Yes, by the way, I've looked at this before and while some parts are better than others, I don't see anything that renders it unwatchable. I'm sure it'll turn out to be a great watch regardless.

Yes, what you're saying can apply to professional productions. It can be taken too far (oh so many examples of this, sometimes leading to things like bankrupcy and even suicide), but I generally agree in that arena. But for something fun, done in these people's spare time? Chill out man.

I see no reason to be "sensitive" towards people on a different forum who will never even read my post, or towards people on this forum for that matter! It's the internet, not the local pub.

So let's stop discussing me and talk about Homestuck instead. That is, as soon as there is anything to discuss.

On coloUrs and mayhem A Nepeta has the best theme, outside of that probably Eridan or Aradia.

Eridan's theme is pretty catchy, but Equius' is easily my favourite. It fits him perfectly even discounting the horse noises and contains the perfect mix of epic and tragic. Those string arpeggios are the best.

Taking remixes into account Vriska wins though. MeGaLoVaNiA, Spider8reath and Killed By BR8K Spider are all really great.

Terezi definitely has some of the best themes imho. Terezi Owns, BL1ND JUST1C3, Terezi's Theme all top tier. Vriska's are all ****ing awesome too, as is Eridan's. I have a special little fondness for some of Gamzee's too~

Sollux has some pretty great ones too!

The best parts of those songs aren't actually based on Terezi's theme though! Terezi Owns is great because of Upward Movement and even the one called Terezi's Theme takes its best part from Alternia. BL1ND JUST1CE is an excellent homage to Phoenix Wright, of course.

Everyone knows the King of the Hill theme is the best Homestuck song.

The only troll theme that stands out to me is Karkat's. It has a great melodic hook and the combination of eerie square waves and glitchy synth percussion is fitting for him.

Equius and Nepeta's are pretty funny at least. I hate Vriska's theme with a passion.

So before we start deciding how to handle the music contest I guess we need to lay down some ground rules? Exactly at what point is a song considered to similar a mix to justify both entrants? Serenade and Requited? Megalovania and Megalovaniac? Skaian Skirmish and Skaian Skuffle? Should this just be on a song to song basis, or should we just let whatever in we feel should make it in?

Vriska's music is the best, very, very easily, for me. Most of the trolls have pretty nice music, though. Arisen Anew (Aradia's second theme) is awesome, Equius has Horsechestra, Tavros's music is great in general, Sollux's is crazy (dat La2t Guardiian), Feferi's Theme is good (is Ocean Stars Falling a Feferi Song too? dunno), Kanaya's is nice...really the only trolls who don't have that much good music are Karkat and Terezi, imo. Terezi Owns sorta counts for me because I really like that, but that's only because Upward Movement is so good.

Also there "sort of" is a vocal version of Eridan's theme, because part of it is a remix of this song:
