If the Dutch are gonna do the same half asses football that got them embarrassed in the World Cup Finals then they dont deserve to advance. Germany put on a clinic in that first half and give us good matches throughout this thing.

In what world were they embarrassed in the WC final? Tactically they came the closest to stopping Spain in the tournament (apart from Switzerland obviously).

And I don't care, either. Man Utd play good football but it's tainted by the fact that they're c***s in every position and in every way. Why should I enjoy their football? The same applies to Portugal, who are by all accounts the national equivalent except without the success.

And in any case, Holland are romance and fun. Germany are pragmatism.

To use a metaphor, Germany are one of those anti-sport teams that literally believe it's OK to not try and win major tournaments (like the FA Cup and to some extent the Carling and UEFA Cups). Whereas Holland are like one of those that still believe in Football as a professional sport and try to win everything.

It's why I never liked Redknapp as Spurs - even though I respected his accomplishments, I could never warm to him. He called an FA Cup match against Man Utd "secondary". That's ridiculous. It's an unhealthy and anti-sport obsession with pragmatism. And that's what Germany remind me of in comparison to a Holland.
