EDIT: Though I will say this about Aranea: Scenes with her have improved, thanks to the fact that characters like Mind-Dirk and Meenah can play off of her terribleness. Unlike, for instance, in her first conversation with Terezi where we just listened to her drone on and on and Terezi just encouraged her.

We're on a schedule here you know. It's only about 50 years until Hussie dies, gotta finish the story before then!
pffft
Hussie's just trying to get Homestuck out of the way so he can get started on his magnum opus. He's gone on record as saying Homestuck is just a warmup for the story he WANTS to tell.

I thought he was on record saying Homestuck is a warmup for whatever the next story he tells is, whatever that may be, that he probably doesn't even know yet. I think it was more a response to the idea that Homestuck is his magnum opus, when he'd rather think that whatever he writes next will be better than whatever came before it.
I don't think it's like he's got some amazing idea all planned out that Homestuck is just a precursor to.
Also, I'm not quite sure I understand the subtext in the last panel. At first I thought Aranea was about to say something that Meenah didn't want her to say, then I thought Meenah was like, threatening Aranea somehow, then I thought that Meenah was just stopping Aranea from being longwinded and expediting the explanation. It's probably the last one I guess.

You might say...there is something fishy about that panel.

There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out
part of me sincerely hopes that this is the only elaboration we get on them besides maybe one or two the other part of me is going "yesssssssssssssssssss....new charactersssssssssssssssssssssss"
Though if she killed them all that easily and only a few minutes have passed by for her, it's kind of weird that Meenah knew what a God Tier looks like.
Edit: Wait, Aranea was in a God Tier outfit earlier. Though now I question how that's a just or heroic death.

It could be possible that the session scratched before she "respawned?"
The other possibility is that she tried to stop Meenah, but IIRC they were conspiring together to do it? I think she mentioned that but hell if I'm wading through all of Aranea's exposition again.
Could be a plot hole, but there are a myriad possible explanations really. For example, maybe she wasn't God Tier yet, but became one after this event? Could be that the frog lily pad thing functions as a Quest Bed. And with a dead dreamself, she might get God Tiered in the dreambubbles? Alternately, she and Meenah were already God Tiers, survived the explosion, and killed eachother to get a heroic/just death respectively.
I think we can trust Hussie to make up a plausible explanation, hopefully less of an asspull than my proposals.
For time being, I'm going to assume Arenea wasn't revived because her body was erased by the scratch before she could revive. It showed that John took a while to revive when he died.

I finally believe it. This is not butter. And I know deep down in my heart that I must become butter atheist.
Alright. I know that quite a few people have been jumping the gun, saying that Aranea suddenly becomes okay when she does something moderately interesting, and they were wrong before.
But this is certainly Aranea's best scene.

this
still not enough to pull her out of "worst troll" tier, though
It's not even that she's bad anymore, she's just incredi8ly 8land
