If I have to spend them penny by penny, then I pay off my college debt by inviting the collectors over and telling them to take what they need.

100,000,000 pennies in my house?

That's roughly a weight of 551,155.655 lb...which is mind boggling to deal with.

BUT...it wouldn't take up TOO much space.

I'd say yes, because its a million dollars and who would turn that down?

Pennies average about 3 grams.
Pennies are about 0.4 cubic centimeters, or 0.4 ML.

There are 100,000,000 pennies in a million dollars.

So...we're talking 300,000 kg.
We're talking 40,000,000 cubic centimeters, or 40 cubic meters.

The volume isn't so atrocious; maybe completely fill a couple of spare bedrooms or an entire basement. I mean, don't get me wrong it would be annoying. But the weight...would destroy most houses. That's about 100x the weight most houses are designed to support.

So basically we have to buy things with pennies. That's a problem, because what's the most expensive thing you can buy where they'll accept pennies for it? The price of that can't be more than a dollar. Maybe some candy at a local store, maybe not even full size candy bars, like the mini candies on top of the counter that's 20/25 cents. And you can't go there TOO many times, because they'll either get sick of you, or be overloaded with pennies. So maybe melting them for the metals is the best option.

Just get a pennywrapping machine and spend the rolls of pennies, or exchange the rolls of pennys for LARGER rolls of quarters for larger rolls of dollar coins.

Retire from your job and just wrap coins forever.
