~23.5 Song: Lagu Untukmu Artist: Meet Uncle Hussain Link: Nominated by NioraptH, Last Year, For TV Music Rankings Placed ~24/47 - I think only Nio and maybe azuarc would understand why this song is here, and as it's been almost a month since I mentioned it in chat, they probably don't recall at all.
Last year, I tried doing a list in the midst of ranking my favorite one-hundred television shows. It only got forty-seven nominations. Lagu Untukmu was the midpoint of the list, ranking highest of all the mid-level songs. Twenty-three "Excellent" and "Great" songs ranked above it and twenty-three "Good," "Meh," and "Bad" songs below. With how high up it is on this list, it's a good indicator of what I feel really separates the best from the rest. Everything above Lagu Untukmu is great, absolutely amazing. The reason that it's here at all is to point out just how much else I thought was just good or meh or bad or, even worse, awful, a category that only co-existed with 'bad' for one song.
I made mention to Nio and maybe azu in chat, about halfway through listening to these nominations, that Lagu Untukmu would beat almost everything nominated thus far. For the most part, I'm surprised it isn't higher. Initial impressions were really sour in the middle of it all. Though my frustration's lessened considerably and I've come to enjoy most of these songs in some way or another, Lagu Untukmu and the twenty-three songs above it rank above everything below this point.

#14. Ace_Killjoy ~ (25) (60) (71) (84) (94) Best Song: Sensation Worst Song: Deathmatch - Invincible, More Reprimand, and Deathmatch. All songs I can't believe are as high as they are. And they're in the bottom half. Nostalgic Salad I wish had done better, and is very good to listen to, but I couldn't give it higher grades. Sensation is your only song making the top fifty, top twenty-five even, and it definitely was a wild card. It and Lions were both in the low teens since near the beginning of the list, and its position there was another reason the songs from forty-five until fifteen were all lumped into a new batch of round robins. Sensation is a great song and still successfully beat off the twenty songs immediately below it, but these next ten were too worthy of opponents.
Overall you gave me some fun listens and some fun-to-hate songs. You obtain ***Cherry Flavored Melonade***

Amped up ballads and devilishly good swing music, you had some noms that were always fun to listen to. They may not have ranked all that highly, but they were all memorable and fun.

I didn't even notice it had already looped at least three times until I went to check how long it was. Also, a few VGMC Battles ago... this is The Meaning of Birth? o_O I like Karma more, but damn that was interesting trying to understand I was applying words to the contest song. This is an absolutely joy to listen to and I'll sometimes keep it playing looped for up to an hour. Thank you for this one.
#22. Song: Back on My Feet Artist: Boom Boom Satellites Link: Nominated by NioraptH - I was skeptical at first, but it blew me away. It takes a while to pick up, but when it does it's great. However, first impressions bring it lower than it could be. And I speak for every time I listen. Those first few minutes don't do it any favors when I try to rank it amongst songs of relative quality. It's pretty much the chorus that nets it such a high position.

#13. Raka_Putra ~ (23) (36) (42) (69) (95) ~ 53 Best Song: Karma (Piano) Worst Song: I Wish - Oh how I wish "I Wish" were better. I really really do. You have a great selection of uplifting songs. "In the Sun" started much higher, but I couldn't bear to have it over Mirage Coordinator even though early on I liked it soooo much more. "Dig A Little Deeper" still gets stuck in my craw, even if it's just 'blue skies and sunshine' and nothing else (probably why it's a tad low because one lyric only gets annoying). "Karma," as stated, was an absolute joy.
You've given me a lot of joy, so I'll give you a lot of melonade. You obtain ***A Melonade Machine***
A Melonade Machine ~ A standard soft drink dispensary filled with cans of melonade. Not the best way to have it, but it's still delicious. Sadly, you do have to pay a few coins to get a drink, but we have to pay for refills somehow. This machine is also assured quality. There are absolutely no Numemon lurking inside. Just Melonade in a variety of flavors.

XD, Leekspin, Airman Will Not Die, more Chrono Trigger? Didn't really recognize the rest, but I loved the pace and flow of it. Oh wait, OKKUSENMAN! Right, where was I? It's cool hearing all these familiar songs again a medley with a ton of stuff I don't, and it's done well, but it's not its own thing so it's weird ranking it so high. But it's awesome. It has an excellent finish, probably the bes tpart oft he song, but it's mildly enjoyable until then.

Just out on the top deck of a boat in Boston Harbor as the sun is slowly setting and the end of high school is just a few weeks away and all these people I won't see in forever. There's beauty in the breakdown.
Nominated by Natwaf_akidna - First thought: "Oh god, there's two parts." Second thought: "Volume down!" Third thought, about two minutes in: "Hey... I recognize some of these..." So, it's a medley. This is all over the place. I can't fault it for fading away because it's definitely keeping my attention. Do I hear some Chrono Trigger in there? Very cool stuff. Energetic, fast-paced, always changing, never fading. Kind of wish it kept on going, even after 17 minutes.

#18. Song: AKIRA - Statues Game: Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Link: Nominated by NioraptH - Some of it I liked, a lot I didn't. I definitely enjoyed the flute and tempo, but it was just too much sometimes. It really makes me want to play some Okami. The problem was it was too short. It looped back on itself too often in 2:27. Probably the only reason it's not higher because I definitely enjoy the song.
This is also the last song I originally had in the bottom 20%. It's climbed extremely high since first listen and I'm very happy with where it lands. I want to push it higher after just a few seconds of listening, but this is the point where it cannot climb any higher. Good job, Statues!

Absolutely love when the strings come in and some more dimension is added. Then the drums kick in a little bit and the pace ramps up and it just feels like flying on a clear sunny day over fields. Only one part where the percussion goes overboard and becomes really distracting that I don't like, but overall it's so good. And I hate that. The first minute is bottom fifty worthy. I don't want it in my top twenty, but then it becomes so enjoyable and relaxing. I want Hotel Song. I want Back On My Feet. Dire Dire Docks should be lower than this, but those two minutes!!!

I like the song, I enjoy the song, and I'm surprised every time just how good it is. Still Blastin', No. 5, and the freaky-ass city meets evil circus song Until You Comply were all great. I'm kind of glad you didn't make the top ten because everyone else seems to have at least one song that will be stuck in my head for months to come, and right now, I'm not remembering anything about these songs. Zelda wasn't as powerful as I expected or hoped; Still Blastin' was one of the best low-end instrumentals and topped tons of minor rankings; No. 5 was the other ParagonX9 song; I don't remember anything of Until You Comply except my description and the Youtube still picture; and Dire Dire Docks will always surprise me. They were all great songs that I enjoy listening to, but they haven't resonated as much as many toher songs have. You did great work and thank you for all you've conributed. KAKURANGER, NINJA NINJA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh **** yes. This went from ready-to-close to way high up. Cheating medley of awesome songs is cheating. So I'm not just going to give this a super high grade- PULP FICTION!- just for having snippets of KAKURANGER, NANJA NANJANYANAYANYANYANYA. Oh, Gingaman was buried in here somewhere, too, but who cares about GIIIIINGAMAN? ...BACKSTREET'S BACK, ALRIGHT!
Great medley. It definitely falls off a bit at times, particularly after Kakuranger and a little while before 19, but damn is this fun to listen to every now and again. I don't feel bad about leaving it out of the top ten as it is a medley of other songs, but it's top of my charts for sure.
Note: This used to be the lowest of Natwaf's big three medley nominations (not lowest because lol Nico Tale), and though it was always in the top thirty, the other two were instantly above it originally. Maybe it was because this didn't have as much Energy, or perhaps I felt KAKURANGER was way too much bias, but now it's high up. Probably because while the other two Nico Nicos sat in Top 15 Purgatory where they never got listened to again until now, 2525/2011 got so much eartime in comparison.

Shame on me for forgetting about it. - That's a very, very old write-up. For the majority of the rankings, it was indeed #3. Alas, too many songs have either stayed strong or climbed high.
