OK so some(most) moves didn't work like they were intended, but they all evened each other out. FR/LG are technically better and more polished, but I'd still recommend playing the originals to someone who has never played them. The sounds, the screwed mechanics, the half-assed graphics and the generally more austere atmosphere given by the lack of bright colors, they still hold a charm that should be experienced IMO.
