Bracket: Missed two matches, completely dead. Was dead before the second miss anyhow.
Oracle: Missed two matches, completely dead. Had to fall back on terrible safety predictions.

Battle: 12th place!

... terrible tiebreaker though so I may as well be completely dead.

If only the Giants game had ended like 5 minutes earlier. I would have dropped my Squall pick by a couple points. Currently it's 55.55% which I wasn't comfortable with, would have gone with 53-54% instead...with 55.55% I think team PD will lose ground to team BGEWAMOT (not sure what they picked here), and there's not too many matches left. And I'd really like that team win again.

Oh well, really happy the Giants won, that's the important thing :)

OK, just checked the other people's picks...looks like Team PD will be just under 10 points back after this match, with 7 (right?) matches to go. Certainly doable.

The match will most likely end up being Trainers vs. Cloud/Sephiroth. The 3rd place match is scheduled to occur on December 19th.

I think the 3rd place match should be part of the Oracle, officially. Because it will be an official 3rd place match - and involve two real entrants. Not for instance Link vs. Santa. For contest terms the match will be a real 3rd place match with two real entrants.

So I believe this should be an official part of the challenge. Not some side-thing that doesn't count. We should have a topic for this, and the match should have it's own match ID, etc.

BTW - what's with all the low 70's predictions for Cloud/Seph against Squall/Seifer? I see a bunch of preds hovering around 71-73%. That seems so low to me...I mean Cloud got 74% on Squall alone. Perhaps that match is closer today, but Seifer ain't helping. Cloud should roll here. Am I missing something...? Perhaps people are thinking this really is like a series/games contest, and this result will be more like FF7 vs. FF8, I guess.

I disagree with that - the third-place match is not an official part of the contest, so it shouldn't be an official part of the Oracle, either

It's a 3rd place match. Won't count in the battle or brackets but it's about as official as it gets outside of that, the winner is literally in 3rd place. This is not some Twilight Zone bonus Link-Santa match that is external to the contest.

And the more matches, the better anyway. More fun to predict more matches than less. Seems entirely silly to have a match actually taking place and known beforehand and yet we don't officially predict it. Sounds like a bad philosophy.

4th last of those to pick in all matches that is. Still a chance for my 5th title in that (think I've won that 4 times now.)

I think it's just that neither Cloud nor Seph has gotten a true blowout in ages. I think......that neither of them has managed to put up 80% in a poll since 2004.

If I didn't "miss" that PT match, and be stupid in the froggus match after to get back in the game, Palace of Wisdom would win the team challenge. I was saying from the start that we would, but i messed it up ;-;

Very glad to hear we'll be getting to predict this match. Should be a fun match with crazy trends too! One of the rare fun matches all contest, or of any interest at all really. Thus it's good that we get to predict it. Would've been such a waste if we didn't.

Kudos to carvey, think he made the right call for making the Oracle better here.

Seriously, I don't expect very many perfect battlers to go with the 1% option, because predicting Link/Mario is harder than Link/Cloud. We're not sure how much SFF will be involved in Link/Mario, or whether Mario can take advantage of the rivalry factor to lessen the damage from SFF.

At least Link/Cloud should definitely fall between 52% and 55%.

There are some additional features I'd like to add to the Oracle site. They are:

1) A section on the User Profiles page that lists your #1 predictions
2) On the User Profiles page, an additional "Best 10 Picks by Points Above Average" section (complete with the same "Show All" option the existing best picks section has, so you can also see your worst picks by PAA)
3) A page that shows the lifetime Points Above Average standings, with the user being able to pass in via 'get' variable the minimum number of matches needed to qualify for the standings

I know of course you don't have the time to add these features yourself, so I'd like to add them on my own. Unfortunately - I don't know where to begin with this! :(

I could probably figure out the SQL if you give me some general info on the schema.

However I'm completely lost when it comes to the templating stuff, all the includes you're using and what not :(

Could you let me know which files I'd need to modify in order to add these features, and maybe give a very brief description of the changes I'd need to make? (I should be able to figure most stuff out on my own if given an overview)
