AxemRedRanger posted... Mario Kart 64 vs. Super Mario Galaxy I...think the latter would win but if you take this result seriously it implies the former has a shot.
Or perhaps that SM64 isn't as strong as we thought.
Mario Kart 64 (2009g) has a strength of 30.80 against Base Link. Super Mario Galaxy (2009g) has a strength of 22.89 against Base Link.
Mario Kart 64 62.84% 72,421 Super Mario Galaxy 37.16% 42,824 TOTAL VOTES 115,244 Mario Kart 64 wins with 62.84% of the vote! A 29,597 vote margin of victory.
So uh, this sounds like a really terrible contest idea. Maybe not worse than the quotes contest but... that one was canceled, so this looks like it'll be the worst contest to actually happen.
Does anyone know who Jay Solano's rival is? I want to nominate him.

"Congratulations Thomas and Sylvia! But their happiness does not continue long..."
With an insatiable desire for destruction Jay frequently butts heads with General Barton over the balance between caution and just going out and decimating the opposition.
Twilight Princess (2009g) has a strength of 38.69 against Base Link. Mario Kart 64 (2009g) has a strength of 30.80 against Base Link.

Also why the heck are we still assuming that Super Metroid is equal to SMK? I think it's pretty clear that the entire Metroid series boosted last year. For evidence, the Fall 2010 stats have Metroid Prime doubling Vice City (point is, Prime should still break 60% there, which is pretty impressive considering who beat who in the 2009 contest).
All of us. We just don't want to accept it because last year just so happened to contain the release of the series' worst game (something I absolutely agree with).
I made the mistake of picking HL2 over Prime last year, so I'm not underestimating Metroid anymore.
Metroid Prime (2009g) has a strength of 25.59 against Base Link. Half-Life 2 (2009g) has a strength of 30.22 against Base Link.
Metroid Prime 42.34% 51,713 Half-Life 2 57.66% 70,426 TOTAL VOTES 122,138 Half-Life 2 wins with 57.66% of the vote! (SO MUCH FOR THAT) A 18,713 vote margin of victory.
I'd take Super Metroid over SMK 1v1, and in a more comfortable win than it managed in 4ways, but I don't think that's indicative of a Metroid series boost when there is no reason for it. 4ways just make things weird.

LeonhartFour posted... Prime's problem was that we underestimated just how much Paper Mario leeched it.
Also Paper Mario looked a lot stronger in 2010 than in 2009 as well, but the idea of a Metroid game SFFing a Mario game to such a low level makes zero sense, not to mention they both apparently hurt each other enough to lose to game that they should both wipe the floor with according to the 2010 stats.
I'm blaming KH > Paper Mario SFF, actually, and then I guess you could say that SFFd Paper Mario managed to leech Prime just enough to make it lose to GTA.
Or I guess we could just make off with "Metroid always performs badly against other Nintendo options", but both 2010 contests clearly suggest otherwise (Samus/Zelda and Pokemon DPP/Metroid Fusion).
LeonhartFour posted... Super Metroid probably wins 1-on-1. It's the safer bet.
But it'd be close enough that I'd be willing to risk taking Mario Kart 64 over either.
Risk? I'd pick MK64 to win that pretty comfortably, as a matter of fact.
MK64 should be comfortably ahead of SMK. We'll assume that MK64 is on Symphonia's level and that SMK is on...maybe Uncharted 2's level.
Super Mario Kart (2009g) has a strength of 22.57 against Base Link. Mario Kart 64 (2009g) has a strength of 30.80 against Base Link.
Super Mario Kart 36.64% 42,421 Mario Kart 64 63.36% 73,358 TOTAL VOTES 115,780 Mario Kart 64 wins with 63.36% of the vote! A 30,937 vote margin of victory.
LMS, you missed charmander's point, I think. TP's win over Galaxy in 2010 was smaller than Mario Kart 64's projected victory there.
Come to think of it, it seems to me there's a fairly consistent pattern of Mario Kart giving awesome performances in polls (contest or no) with lots of options but looking just awful 1-on-1. Granted we haven't gotten to see SMK or MK64 1-on-1, though it doesn't sound like anyone would be surprised if they end up weaker there than the data implies.
The percentage of people who have played Ocarina of Time is pretty close to the percentage of people who have ever owned a N64. I wonder what percentage of the people who said they played OoT played it on a non-N64 console. The OoT poll predates OoT 3D by a few years.

Off the Record is like some kind of DLC right? It's kinda weird that DLC would be on a poll like this, but there's no way Dead Rising should be that weak.
Ugh, posted in the wrong topic again! This is the second time in a month after zero in 8 years. I blame the edit button, for letting me know that I can correct this kind of mistake.
I doubt Meta-Knight being banned will have any impact on his strength.
Looks like this site hates Call of Duty now. I mean, Battlefield 3 is beating MW3 in this poll. Not to mention Battlefield is a series that GameFAQs doesn't care about too much, based on these polls:
Here's a board 8 bracket based on the nomination tally. I didn't bother to remove potential pairings that SBAllen will remove, but I did follow the rule of a character appearing only once in the bracket. There are a few interesting matches.
Division 1
1) Mega Man X/Zero 16) Kratos/Zeus
8) Chris Redfield/Albert Wesker 9) Dan Hibiki/Sagat
5) Fox McCloud/Wolf ODonnell 12) Blue Badger/Bad Badger
4) Sora/Riku 13) Gordon Freeman/Dr. Breen
3) Conker/The Great Mighty Poo 14) Shirou Emiya/Archer
6) Mew/Mewtwo 11) Zidane Tribal/Kuja
7) Samus Aran/Ridley 10) Captain/CATS
2) Chester/The Bad Guy 15) The Kid/The Guy
Division 2
1) Pokemon Trainer Red/Pokemon Trainer Blue 16) Ezio Auditore da Firenze/Rodrigo Borgia
I'm guessing a good chunk of those 20% Battlefield supporters are just anti-CoD votes, but I still didn't expect to see that series lose like this. We'll have to see how Batman and Uncharted fare upon release, but right now, it looks even more like GotY is a two-horse race between Skyrim and Zelda. Based on this performance, who knows if CoD will even land in the top four or five.
Zelda Skyrim Uncharted Batman Portal
CoD?
