More likely it's a new PS3 model with a new playstation eye that supports that type of motion gaming IMHOOOOOOO

it also seems fishy with that 20mil figure, hasn't the PS3 only sold like 55mil in 5 years? 20 million sounds a little much considering that and how buggy the first run of consoles tends to be

I'm all for motion controls. It's a fun way to get my more casual friends to play games at parties compared to shooters or racers where they just don't have the experience for it to be fun.

But I don't want motion control to be the default control scheme for a console. An optional extra like Kinect is fine.

the future is looking pretty bleak

unless it's like a holodeck

but motion controls + a TV screen = failure

I hope not. From what we've seen of it, it's impossible to do conventional games on the Kinect.

*remembers that Ubisoft shooter demo at E3*

It's impossible to do them well.

That'll be awesome.

The industry has been trying to introduce motion control for over a decade, it won't take long before someone gets it right.

A less solid answer would be to take a look at some of those sci-fi movies where video games are played through motion control.

lol if you think Nintendo started the motion control fad

They were very early in adapting to the fad, that is all. Touch screens and such were gaining huge amount of momentum before the Wii.

this is assuming anyone can get it right. I think as long as it's dependent on a TV motion controls can not match a real controller...and because of space constraints motion controls can never become the mainstream. as human society grows we're living closer and closer together in smaller and smaller spaces, the majority of people can't dedicate a whole room to motion based gaming like you would need in order to truly perfect it(a very large room at that...). and even then there are some things that a controller or mouse + keyboard are just blatantly better at. just because some industry suits keep trying to shove it down our throats doesn't mean people want it

Clearly, you're not looking at the bigger picture.

Nintendo's ingenius plan was to make motion controls appear popular so that Sony and Microsoft attempt to reproduce them. While Sony and Microsoft are doing that, Nintendo drops a NEWER fad, making millions while everyone is tired of motion controls.

I've always viewed the whole craze as analogous to the 3D craze in the mid-'90s when EVERY franchise had to make the move to 3D, just because they could.

It led to some triumphs, and it led to some disasters. Over time people figured out what worked with 3D and what didn't, and the stuff that didn't reverted back to the realm of 2D gaming.

Same thing with motion controls. Some games work great being entirely motion controlled. Some games work great with regular controls but with motion controls as a change-of-pace add-on. Some genres just don't work well with them at all. Eventually those will get weeded out and sent back to the realm of traditional controls.

The future of gaming is virtual reality couplet with motion controls. Though there would be a controller, a full bodysuit that tracks your every movement and can provide feedback.

Hell yes.

this only really makes sense if you happen to have a huge, nearly empty room, to play in. this isn't feasible for most people

Not with a special treadmill that prevents you from running around !

You'd only need a room as big as the area you can occupy by moving your members from a fixed position.
