not only vat but other logistics cost as well since they are shipping the console from another country plus it's not cheaper in japan with their high inflation and weaker yen it only seems cheaper to you cuz you are looking at it from the usd to yen conversion
Again, the minimum wage in Portugal is lower than in Japan, but we still have to pay 50% more for a Switch 2.

And Japans high inflation? Their inflation was barely 1% more than in the EU. Youre clearly just making stuff up.

Shipping stuff in bulk doesnt cost that much.
