Why let the player distract from the narrative especially in a game where the love plot is so central. I like affection systems when they matter. Tales games are awesome. Dragon Age Origins was awesome. I kinda hate when they don't. It's my one problem with 10/10 game FFX too-- Blitz Ace and snow mobiles aren't good enough for me to be happy I want my Tidus x Rikku ship (though Tidus cant be a dick to Yuna so it's not as distracting as FF8). FF7 would probably bug me more if Tifa wasn't the best Cloud ship too but the Golden Saucer scene is a bigger deal than most FF games. FF8 without the selectable dialogue is probably a solid 7 or 7.5 for me. Someday I'll replay with the pro Rinoa options every time to see how that improves it for me. Someday. --- No problem!
