And yet I have both still eaten said cake, know its flavor and supple texture, while also having it chilling in my fridge for an unspecified later date (it's never coming).

In fact, I even saved the portion that fully says my name, so "the cake" is still fulfilling its purpose for what it was created for in the first place.

But, as explained to another, you can do both. You can both eat cake and have some for later. That's called leftovers.

Like, what if someone said "You can't have your lasagna and eat it, too". Like, yes I can, I'm not eating a full-pan lasagna in one sitting because that's unhealthy and I'm trying to lose weight. It's still "your lasagna" even if you don't eat the whole thing in one sitting.
