yes of course there's materia on everybody (for AP accumulation) but the best materia being on your party members obviously makes sense. Not going to let prime materia rot in reserve!!! if no loadout then at a minimum, the original game's full weapon/armor materia swapping between characters!

FF16 had the same problem with not providing loadouts frankly, like there's a set of skills that were great vs. trash mobs but not vs. bosses/tougher enemies and vice versa so had to flip back and forth more than once there...

Rest are all good points too! Summoning, agreed, and feels bad because they look so good but by the time the opportunity to summon would come I would just enver use it. "Freeze" isn't something I had ever considered but it's honestly a good point, as much as I like switching away for increased DPS, those moves really should be admired. Last point reminds me of cruising in the Regalia in FF15 while listening to "God in Fire" from Dissidia 012.... well now you got me wanting that in the Highwind too, lol!
