Basically they're saying they're not convinced that child marriage is an epidemic in the US and they're worried that by making laws against it, could end up being twisted in the future by anti-gay marriage politicians. But that's basically the inverse of Republicans going "if we allow gay people to get married, then what, people marrying their dogs?!"
