My one friend offered to buy lunch and beers for us if we helped him dig out and install his patio for him. Then he bought sub/hoagie sandwiches that half the people couldn't eat (one of us is allergic to tomatoes, one of us is allergic to onions, and he got subs with both on in spite of knowing both of us for like 15 years). Then also, two of us wound up not drinking either because you don't necessarily want to mix alcohol and heavy labor/operating a rototiller. So the whole thing was kind of a wash.
