The game killed Halo. Bungie didn't even want to make it, and it showed. But they were forced to in order to get their independence from Microsoft (along with ODST). Bungie wanted Halo 3 to be the end of the franchise. But M$ refused to let them stop making their cash cow. So they basically just used it as practice for the game they really wanted to make (Destiny, with more extensive loadout customization and more extensive abilities). I will never understand why so many people love the game that ruined one of the greatest franchises of all time.
