I'll join the crowd who's offering their condolences. Divorce is a shitty thing for all parties, but especially for a child. Sounds like at least there won't be any playing the poor kid off both sides; y'know, not-so-subtly implying it's so-and-so's fault, trying to 'win' at being the better parent now, all that. Doing what's best for the little one's first and foremost. Unfortunately, sometimes that does mean getting the divorce. Still sucks.

I hope at least the whole "negative energy" thing is less vague for you than it is in general, because on the surface that's an infuriatingly unspecific comment that you can't really address or work on.
