Got cancelled after The Mummy underperformed. But that meant instead of a big budget film that was sure to be terrible we got Leigh Whannels Invisible Man which is one of the best horror movies of the decade.Not only that, they were so obsessed with their Dark Universe that they passed on Guillermo Del Toro's Creature from the Black Lagoon script, which he modified to become the Academy Award Best Picture film The Shape of Water. It's incredible how much the Dark Universe failed. They just needed to give us a bunch of quality movies with the actual lead humans being the focus of it rather than the monsters.
