The funny part is that tasting food is also very subjective as well. So paying $200 vs $700 doesn't really matter. It is all based on the personal tastes of the guest. I would actually compare restaurant fine dining to art collecting.

Price is typically based on a variety of factors:
a) Location of Restaurant,
b) Reputation of the Head Chef, ownership
c) Demand / Waitlist
d) Quality of Restaurant facilities
e) Perceived quality, --- of all five senses.
