Nope. I use male/female indiscriminately when I want to refer to people without regard to relative age groups (not everyone who is male/female is necessarily a man/woman, for instance). The most frequent way this occurs to me is when I'm talking about my experiences in high school (a rather pivotal/depressing era of my life, so it comes up in conversation quite a lot) in which case I will often refer to my "male/female peers".

Rest assured that I'm not using it in that creepy Ferengi sort of way.
