TopicWas getting rid of David Hayter the biggest mistake in gaming history?

Biggest mistake in gaming history? No, not really. I'd wager that Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World was a bigger misstep than replacing David Hayter as Snake.

It was a dogshit decision, I don't buy the whole "oh but it's a middle ground between young big boss and old big boss!" which always came off as a wishy-washy contrarian answer, especially after my dickhead friend started repeating it after hearing it in a couple of YouTube videos. Most of Kiefer's dialogue was cut as well, so it's just like what was the fucking point in the end y'know.

But it wasn't entirely without precedent; Hayter had to audition for Snake all the way up to Peace Walker, and Kojima was looking for a bigger Hollywood name that entire time. I'd even say that 2015 was on the cusp of a new generation of voice talent, except they brought everyone back EXCEPT for David Hayter.

It's an unfortunate omission and I'm still not a fan , but saying it was the biggest mistake in gaming history is a bit silly. It's not even the biggest mistake in Metal Gear Solid 5.
