To be fair - and I say this as someone who doesn't even like Kojima or any of the MGS games - when your superiors are a bunch of assholes and you spend tons of your development time arguing with them, it's kind of hard to make a good story.

It would be one thing if MGS was the only problem, and Kojima was clearly the root cause. But Konami's absolute chucklefuckery when it comes to pretty much every property they ever owned for multiple years running kind of shows they were absolutely to blame, at least in part. Something that becomes even more apparent when you find out about all of the cut or underdeveloped content that was planned for the game but didn't make it in because of the eventual blow-up.

The realistic answer is that both Konami and Kojima were responsible for what ultimately happened. Blaming only one or the other is missing the full picture.
