They're a little unnerving if you aren't used to how quiet they are (I've fielded several calls from people who thought the car wasn't starting because they were unfamiliar with hybrids), but I kinda like it for city driving because it gives the extra mini-challenge of trying to maximize charging/minimize engine use, making those boring errands a little less so. wpot posted... I'd happily buy a hybrid if I did the math and found that the cost of owning one over 10 years appeared comparable to a gas guzzler. Maintenance may throw a wrench into it, but a major component of that is going to be how much city driving you do versus highway. Hybrids offer very little advantage over ICE's for highway driving, but the mileage difference for city driving is huge. Regenerative braking is an absolute game-changer. --- This is my signature.
