AI waiting doesn't have to be good, it just has to be plentiful enough that it becomes near-impossible to find anything better and audiences lower their standards. Established authors will still be able to reach audiences to a certain extent because people will look for them, but publishers may drop them in favour of filling shelves with cheaper stuff, leaving them to self-publish (which will mostly limit them to digital distribution) and possibly not be able to support themselves. --- This is my signature.
