98. Zach Wurtenberger (Survivor 42, 17th place) [16/18]
So now were entering the range where I cant say I hated these people because they either didnt last long enough, werent relevant enough to the edit, or their offenses werent egregious enough, but they still just mildly rubbed me the wrong way for one or more reasons. In Zachs case, he basically came onto the show as the new Ryan Ulrich, and while I love me some season 35, Ryan is NOT the castaway you want to emulate - hes got this misplaced cockiness about him and just kind of weasels his way in and out of alliances and blows challenges yet somehow surviving while better characters get picked off. Zach begins doing this as he becomes close to Tori (who finds his nerdiness endearing) but then grows paranoid about her so he tries to throw her under the bus, but luckily his tribe catches onto what hes doing and gives him the boot in episode 1 after a tribal council where he really just did not look good. The best thing that came from his time on the island was Maryanne revealing she had a crush on him after he was booted and having a pretty great and relatable moment about her love life. As for Zach, we were most likely spared of a very weak challenge competitor and unpleasant trainwreck of a player.
