If you're curious, Terms are confirmed to be equivalent to years + 10 later on (not by the main story, oddly enough).
It's not that they're not a thing, but that they are absolutely riddled with problems and in many cases abuse, pedophilia (again, not helping that at this point late in the game I don't even know who the dad is), and forcing children the traumatic experience of carrying to term. If it's gonna be introduced I'd rather have it addressed in an actual storyline that can tangle with the issues rather than just thrown in there for no reason causing nothing but side-eye bait - especially in anime-adjacent media that's long since lost its privilege to fuck around with minors.
