So mine is a bit more fun I guess.

I was trying to get a paralegal job and I ended up landing a legal assistant job at a security system company. However, things were wrapping up on getting my paralegal job across the country and I kind of needed this one as a back up incase something fell through. They gave me the offer one day and I asked them if I could have a few more days to decide and they begrudgingly said I could have only one day to decide or else they'd give that job to someone else. Like it was clear they didn't want me leaving that room without giving them an answer. So the next day I accepted because I literally had to.

So I ended up doing orientation stuff for Monday-Thursday and I told them I had a prior engagement on Friday, which was flying out to go sign my contract for my paralegal job. I think they could tell I was kind of not taking orientation as... I don't want to say seriously, but maybe not working as hard to retain everything? I knew that unless something blew up, I had this other job.

So on Monday morning after I signed for my other job I called and told them that I got a better job they can't match and I won't be coming in again. The woman who hired me was extremely pissed and was just going "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah" and interrupting me as I tried to explain and was trying to be polite and thank her for the opportunity.

I don't feel bad though because they refused to give me any time to decide and they made it clear I was extremely expendable if they were going to give the job to someone else if I didn't decide after a day. Don't be beholden to a single job. I tell everyone that. I made the right call for myself and there's no loyalty I had to them. Hoping they rethink their shitty one-day ultimatums in the future.

I absolutely kept all of their swag they gave me though. There's a POWER OF PURPLE shirt I got from them that I still routinely wear to work out and stuff.
