The entire point of the game is basically caring about your crew and the story. If you're not interested in that, this is not and will never be the game for you. If all you care about is mindless action, there are tons of other games that will give you what you want, and you're going to spend dozens of hours just hating the entire experience.

And then you'll go online and complain about how bad the game is, and then everyone else will just point and laugh at you.

Stop playing now. You'll be happier.

Shame it ever existed in the first place. Wasting time and resources on developing it is a large part of what damaged ME3 and ruined ME:A the way it did.

Again, trying to force games into being something they're not and were never meant to be rarely ends well for anyone. And if all you want is competitive multiplayer, there are already tons of other games to scratch that itch.
