@specialkid8

so, the reason I'd flip that switch in a heartbeat is because when you don't like music, people *really* treat you differently. they say some obvious advice, or suggest some songs/bands, as if I'd never heard music in my entire life. they don't realize that whatever they feel from music, *I literally do not feel*

I've had a lot of music loving friends over the years. by which I mean musicians, band members, fanatics. I've heard plenty of music from all sorts of batshit insane, off the wall genres. when I used to listen in the car, I'd pick a couple bands and just toss them on. they did nothing for me aside from fill an empty car. I've listened to albums from different genres. it's just boring at worst, annoying at best

people assume I haven't tried, that I haven't "found the *right* music"

then when I tell them that isn't the issue, they insult me. more than once I've had people tell me, to my face, I am inhuman for not feeling anything while listening to a song

I literally can't bond over something everyone can bond over, and brother that is profoundly alienating.

I would flip that switch in a fucking heartbeat
