DAY 2

Oh, I forgot that the rest of the cross of Kristen, Depp's sister, happened here.

Mostly because the next witness was Isaac Barusch, who was a close friend of Johnny Depp's since they were young and lived in the same group of penthouses as Depp and Heard did. This is one wild old dude. He was fun, vibrant, and he was a delight to listen to. He is such an extremely important part of this case.

Basically, he talked about how he lived in Florida taking care of his mother who eventually passed. He's an artist and he talked to Johnny about not having a place and wanting to focus on his arts, and Johnny offered to be his patron and give him a place to live rent free (this is a trend, even with Amber's friends he didn't know well). He said he packed up THAT DAY and moved into the penthouse. He said he would always be around Amber and Johnny and characterized Amber as wonderful and that he loved her to death and understood why Johnny loved her so much, and that she had freakishly nice teeth. This dude was the only person to get any sort of reaction out of Amber that wasn't dead faced, and Johnny was cracking up during it. But he said Amber was always extremely sweet to him. He said he heard them fight a few times and that Amber would constantly try to egg him on into fights. He even broke up one on the phone before by just taking Johnny's phone and telling her the conversation was over and hanging up. Isaac also saw broken wine bottles in the hallways before Amber and Johnny's last big fight but didn't think much of it.

What was significant was that Johnny was out seeing his dying mother while Isaac was still at the apartments and he ran into Amber that morning and Amber's sister and friend was there too. And Amber goes up to Isaac with light shining on top of her and said, "Isaac! Johnny hit me! Do you see!?" He looked on both of her cheeks and then said he didn't see anything but then kissed her cheek and told her she looked beautiful. They all then laughed and went on their way. Isaac went to leave and when he came back, Amber and the others were in the lobby and he says he saw Amber's sister fake punch her and they were laughing about it. But they all were in good spirits. He said she still didn't have a bruise or anything on her face.

Then, he saw everything come out that day where Amber got a restraining order and the picture with her having a bruise at the courthouse was there and he was in disbelief and shattered because he says he just saw her and he knows she had no bruise on her face. Then, a day later, she goes to Isaac's penthouse and asks if he wants to have dinner with her and he says he doesn't think they can talk and called her out for lying and not understanding why she did that and that they can't talk after she did that to Johnny. She said she was sorry to hear that and he never talked to her again.

On cross examination they had the really nutty lawyer come up and question him, which is a mistake because this guy was so likeable and believable and this lawyer is very much not that. She doesn't hold back on trying to catch him in stuff. She questions him on where a wine spill was for a while which was stupid. She tried to catch him in a lie and asks him if he's ever seen Amber do her own make-up. He says no, "But I guess she can't be good at it if she has someone do it for her a lot." I loved this man. She also brings up a text that was sent from Johnny that was out there, in I think 2018 or 2019, well after everything happened, where Johnny said he hoped to see Amber dead in the trunk of a Toyota Camry or something to that effect. We'll learn that Johnny's texts are typically absolutely bonkers, but he explains them in his testimony. She also asked if he remembers Johnny calling Amber a c***, and he said "Yeah, I guess he texted that but he calls me a c*** all the time."

Perhaps the biggest part was this woman badgering him and trying to get him to say "Oh You testified that you were angry at Miss Heard, didn't you?" "Oh, you mean about all the phony pictures that she took? Yeah. I was angry at that, putting it in the tabloids and everything?" And he talked about all of the deceit. And then she asks "But you're still angry, aren't you?" And Isaac just went off on this passionate speech about how it's been six years and he was upset, angry, and confused at her duping everyone, saying that isn't fair that she can just make up this lie about Johnny. And he said that she has ruined so many people's lives because of this, and that Johnny's friends aren't the same, Johnny's kids aren't the same, and he got really emotional and was crying and saying that he just wants this all to end. It's worthy finding a clip of.

Just truly, horrific questions from this attorney. After this, the attorney tried to get him to answer if Amber is telling the truth, then Johnny Depp should be punished. Objected because it's a baaaaad question. And eventually enough of her questions get objected to that this attorney gets frazzled and goes "But he got to stand up here and rant and rave!" And it's just a horrific look from her. Awful.

And then comes the worst part of this trial... the video depositions. Because not everyone could come to Virginia to testify, they had some people just do a video deposition. One such person was the owner of the hotel who was only here so they could show all of the video from the night Amber and Johnny fought and the morning Amber supposedly had a bruise on her face. So they just show a lot of security footage. The night Johnny left, the police came to check out the scene because Amber called 911. They were barely there according to the footage because... well, there was nothing to report. The police officers were laughing and joking after that, implying that the scene was hardly significant. The other big part of this was showing the many people who interacted with Amber that morning she claimed to have a bruise, because all of them will testify that she, in fact, did not have a bruise on her face.

This was long and boring and awful but it needed to be done. That's it for Day 2. Day 3... Idk I'll summarize it tomorrow.
