Twilight Samurai
So I guess the real winner was architecture.
Engaging story for the most part but I couldn't shake the feeling that there was a lot more that I was not being shown that I would have liked to see. Not crucial information but things that could have been explored to give the dramatic moments more weight in my mind. The scene with him being told off for smelling was a horrifying memorable moment that I'll keep in my mind for a long time. I would have liked to see more scenes of his everyday life though.
IIRC there was one moment where he was labeled as a man of "no ambition" and that's such an interesting departure from the typical depiction of samurai in my mind.
There was a moment where I was wondering why the story was being told from the daughter's persepctive considering she wasn't present for a lot of the big moments like the talk between Iguchi and Tomoe and the final fight but then it got to the ending reveal and I was like 'oh.' Did feel a bit abrupt and again, I would have liked to see maybe some more moments of his life after because I want to see my boy happy. But I guess thematically it fits with the idea that despite what we were shown, relatively he was just another low ranking guy in the system. 7/10
