If it's this story (and god help us if it's not and there was a second police fatal shooting of a man in a wheelchair in as many days) then shoplifting.

Apparently a Walmart employee believed he stole a toolbox, followed him outside and asked for a receipt. The guy is alleged to have pulled a knife and headed towards another store. I assume at this point the police were called? The officer allegedly ordered the man to drop the knife and not enter the store, but was ignored.

Tucson PD fired him for excessive use of force.

The officer's lawyer states his client "had no non-lethal options"

The Washington Post reports...
"He did have a taser, but in his mind, he couldn't use it because he didn't feel he had the proper spread to deploy it, with the wheelchair between him and Richards,"
