I've still been on a cheap (well, inexpensive, the quality is fine) prize figure kick lately, and saw Taito's Rikka Takanashi figure, which got me curious what else has happened with Love, Chuninbyo (or whatever, I can't fucking spell it), and Other Disasters. I *thought* I missed some part of the original series (or more specifically an OVA) that NF didn't have, but now I'm not sure whether or not I watched the second season, and it's pissing me off. Especially since there's little chance of trying to figure out what I've seen without spoiling stuff.

It's kind of a running theme with anime, since shows can have breaks between seasons, which is why I like watching them years after the fact... although the downside there is that the availability of merch goes to shit if i do decide I really like something and want a collectible from it. (Granted, some properties don't get great collectibles until years later, but that's often when a show develops international appeal or some cult status... or, in the case of older properties, there just wasn't a good collectibles market at the time.)

Does anyone here bother with physical copies of anime?

Yes. And I amusingly bought a used copy of Ouran HSHC when it was still on NF (which it still might be) before proceeding to just rewatch it on NF (although I wound up not rewatching the whole thing, so now I'm not sure if I still want to rank it in my top 25 favorite anime whereas for a while I thought it might have been in my top 10).

With the exception of some games (usually without physical editions or, in the case of Steam, when it's just easier), I tend to stick to physical media for everything.

I have a few US Blu Ray sets that require a US player, but I already got local copies of Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and just ordered some local DVDs for Black Lagoon + Second Barrage. What I might do is offer them to someone here in the right region (maybe free, maybe for shipping cost, I'm unsure) if anyone here still watches them. If everyone here prefers streaming / downloads, I'll just hold onto them for now instead, since shipping is a pain.

Something like that I would probably skip just because I'm big on maintaining my privacy. Black Lagoon is something I've been curious about for over a decade, but nothing super-high on my radar, and then I tried a few episodes of FMA:B when it was on NF (which it might still be) but it wasn't my thing. (I was never super into the previous FMA, and a lot of the stuff I disliked about FMA was still in FMA:B, not to mention B rushed through some story elements I liked in FMA -- Major Hughes plays a much smaller role, for instance).

That and I generally don't do much with BR since my only BR player is my ps3 (and I guess ps4?).

So that import copy of Black Lagoon I wanted to replace. Turns out the just arrived DVDs are UK imports, so I can't watch those on my usual player either. :D

roflmao, that luck.

i got like three things on bluray that i've never even watched, and only cuz they were super cheap on amazon that summer

I'm not sure how many unwatched BRs I have, although I have a substantial physical media collection that I haven't touched, largely because I'll see something cheap (or something I've wanted to see) and just not get around to it.

One case-in-point was Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman where I saw some of the DVD sets at a pawn shop while I was waiting for something with my car. I picked up one set, watched a few episodes, went back to buy the others (paying a higher price because the first time I got a discount, and I didn't think to haggle the second time), and then... watched maybe 1-2 more episodes, got distracted by something else, and never went back to it. Plus I think I'm missing one season anyway because, although the pawn shop had all of the seasons, one of the sets looked like it had disc decay (which was how I learned this was a thing) so I didn't buy that one
