So, what y'all watching/playing?

Currently watching Tokyo Revengers. It's been hard to watch for me. At first it was making me uneasy because there's something that'll annoy the shit out of me if it happens, but now it's hard to watch because I'm at the point where I'm actively starting to hate the mc.

Still nothing. Having been gaming, watching any anime, or reading any manga. In the case of manga, it's just because that other laptop died and I had my progress saved on it. I figured I'd pick up again whenever I got a new laptop or got it repaired but... yeah, it's been over 6 months now.

I'll probably watch the Mieruko-chan anime at some point, and I keep meaning to check out Konosuba (which I got interested in last year after watching Isekai Quartet).

Asmr and anime seem like an odd mix. For broadcast anime I don't see it working, but as an ova/ona, I think it could be neat.

Zeus, Konosuba is a lot of fun, it's my favorite as far as comedy isekai go.

Didn't realize until looking closer that it's just a 3-5 minute per episode deal. Basic ass plot is girl is into asmr and gets her classmates to join in.

Damn, I am so freakin sad. I was playing xenoblade 2 golden torna, which has been great. Was going to 100% it. I just finished beating the last superboss which I was level 94 for and it took like 5 attempts. Beat it, all that is left is one small fight and then the final boss. Game freezes. Load back up the game, I'm level 76. I lost like 10 freakin hours of gameplay. I have autosave turned on and everything. Now the game is glitched and I can't open the 2nd to last gate before the final boss so I can't even finish the game without 100%. Fuck. Only time the game froze and it's when I was like 5 minutes away from 100%.

Man, that sucks. I quit playing Kotor because it kept glitching/crashing and losing me an hour or so of time and I got fed up after having to redo shit I just did.

I mean, I like the glancing around, and some of the walking... but the paint shit is just confusing (I don't remember ectoplasm being a big plot element, although some people were touched by ghosts), and it doesn't show any ghosts. I'm also surprised to learn that "rival" ghost viewer is blonde. I didn't picture her as that from the manga.

Unfortunately, I spoiled a major plot point for myself today when I learned who the guy winds up with... which I guess is also an amusing surprise since I just assumed it would either be Aqua or just teased. Basically I had seen a prize figure where a character wore an outfit that didn't seem in keeping with a fantasy setting, so I googled it to see if the show took place in both worlds and saw something I wish I hadn't so I could have been surprised.

By coincidence, Retro Crush picked up the Dirty Pair TV series a short while ago. No sign of the OAVs yet, but I am not ruling it out.

I just have to admit my taste in Anime and Manga is just... different. I'm pretty easy to please as long as it's a slice of life of some kind. People were complaining about the ending of episode 2 not being as impactful as it was in the Manga but I thought it was great.

All the new hentai coming out are like 80% that stuff.

And doubly worse is that Bunnywalker, literally the top studio in h-anime right now in terms of overall high quality animation, has made like only 1 or 2 vanilla-ish ones over the last two years. All the rest are UB/rape/ntr stuff.

You can only rewatch Masterpiece so many times before it gets stale you know.

I assume vanilla does poorly compared to just regular porn. Hentai also much harder and more time consuming to produce than regular porn so I imagine they feel like they have to do stuff real porn can't do in order to compete.

Finally going to another convention tomorrow, and I just saw that they're not allowing any outside food or drinks this year. That was one of the annoying things about the other local conventions, but this one was always cool. So now you have to either buy the overpriced venue concessions, or just fucking leave (which is a bigger hassle when you don't have a car).

AMAIM is kinda mid so far. Theres a severe lack of logic to the fighting and the enemies all being unmanned drones just makes the action feel pointless. The action itself is animated pretty well, it just doesn't make sense. How effective bullets are changes drastically for no reason throughout the fights where the main robot will shrug off 10 full clips one minute and then get downed by a single bullet to the leg later from the same gun.

The characters are bland as well. It's like a gundam anime without the stakes or politics and less realistic action (which is saying something cause gundam has plenty of nonsense as well).

It's not unsaveable at this point but they really need to ramp things up quite a bit and quickly.

Muv-luv anime is the opposite. It's animation quality looks like an early 2000s hentai and skipping over what I assume are the first two routes and summing it up in like 15 seconds makes it feel very odd so what we actually get is a character on his 3rd timeline trying to fix science by trying to get promoted from cadet to CO in 3 months and it just all feels like disconnected nonsense. It's also highly infuriating how the main character keeps referring to the girls as if he is still their classmate/student despite him supposedly being in the 2nd timeline for like 3 years. Like, even day 1 you'd be dumb for letting it slip but after all this time it just makes him annoying.

I also feel like some things don't add up about humanity surviving this long. The BETA are basically unstoppable and for all intents and purposes from what we've seen they should have taken out humanity in like a month or two, not have only whittled it down to a billion over the course of like 17 years. How the heck are we fighting them off? Why don't they just have the laser BETAs kill everything from outside their range? Where in the hell are we getting all this ammo from? I feel like every fight must use hundreds of thousands to millions of rounds.

Idk, I'm clearly thinking too hard here and thats probably cause the show just isn't good so my mind wanders while watching it.

And then platinum end is also sorta disappointing so far. The main character is just not interesting at all and I feel thats the big issue. This is from the deathnote/bakuman authors so it's not like they can't write characters but man is this one boring. I feel like the one guy acting like a super hero is an idiot for revealing himself but I guess he did that cause he can't find the other candidates otherwise? And like, angel wings are great in a shootout or something but shouldn't do anything to stop you from getting assassinated or poisoned or something like that.

Realistically it's very easy to kill someone without them seeing it coming but I can already tell they aren't going to try anything like that and are instead going to rely solely on white arrows to kill people. It's the same issue with deathnote where light could have won really easily by just bringing a gun and shooting L in the face but no, he had to use the deathnote exclusively and find out his name for no reason.

Yeah, I saw something in one of the comment sections about the writer of muv-luv saying he estimated you'd need 380 episodes of anime to tell the whole story but here we are with 13 so what can you really hope for (other than better animation and maybe starting with the first game).

that's an excessive estimation, but a realistic minimum i'd set for the anime to be thorough enough would be 6~ eps for extra, 6~ eps for unlimited, and 24 eps for alternative to hit the high points

I might just retire my Criminal cosplay early. Conan is already not very popular in America anyway so no one has commented on it, and it's very uncomfortable wearing the form fitting mask plus a face mask.

it's sort of like komi, but both main characters are abnormal in different ways

mc looks mean has a tendency to excessively daydream (with encyclopedic knowledge to boot), but he's overly caring; fmc is horrible at judging social distances so she's either too close or too far, but she's overly capable in most things (and subtly caring)

Yeah, Aharen-san is a pretty consistently enjoyable manga.

It's one of those, "not actively waiting for each new chapter, but is a nice surprise when we get one" type of manga for me.

Raidou's daydreams and seeing how far his logic and misunderstandings can grow never gets old.

Not loving the animation, and while the gags are low-key cute... it feels like the guy is an adult and the girl is a little kid. I know that height differences are common, and the female characters are usually drawn a bit younger, but... yeesh.

Completed my rewatch of s1 of Marimashita Iruma kun and watched the second season as well. Be nice if they do another season for it. Think I'm gonna get back to my Supernatural rewatch now, since I watched most of the anime from last season that I wanted to. Left myself some stuff to watch, but if I don't get back to Supernatural soon I'll probably just stop watching it all together and never make it to the last two seasons.

Still slowly playing Rune Factory 4 and thinking of starting something new though. Maybe Ghosts of Tsushima, or Farcry 4 since I found a cheap copy of it for 360 yesterday.

It has a much more well written cast of characters, each one getting their own chance to shine, and more importantly also interact with the plot alongside the main character.

I do have several acquaintances that I know through cons, and the past couple years I've been going with family members. But I started out going alone, and nobody else could make it this time around. And I don't know those acquaintances well enough or see them often enough to really be friends. Contrary to popular belief, most (adult) con goers aren't alone or even single, so I can't help seeing a noticeable contrast between them and me.

I am gonna finally get to try takoyaki at a nearby ramen bar, so that's cool.

I left s5 of Hero Academia as one of my rainy day shows, along with Kobayashi s2. I do agree that the two shows have a similar feel to them, but yeah, it does seem that Deku gets put through a lot more shit.

Mushoku tensei is so damn good. I feel like besides maybe violet evergarden, it's the anime most helped by it's production quality. Good production always is great but here it's what allows them to really sell this fantasy world as a real place and that makes so much difference.

86 is also still great. Last episode of kingdom is about to air or at least, last episode for a while. I'll be sad to see it go but hopefully we get a 4th season before too long. World trigger season 3 also is fine so far. They haven't had any fights yet but they are just about to finally. It feels like the pacing is a bit slower than last season, perhaps a bit too slow.

I'm sure there are plenty of single con-goers. But yes, most adults have friends and people who attend cons often make them there (because while it isn't terribly hard to make friends, finding friends with the same interests can be tricky when those interests aren't sports-related).

I'm intrigued because it seems to be a (I guess LN spoilers? idk, it seems further past the anime) harem anime where the MC winds up with several characters, which is my favorite possible outcome and one of the things I liked about Renai Boukun/Love Tyrant, although that's just where it ends.

Finished s9 of my Supernatural rewatch, but I'm gonna have a brief interlude to rewatch the first season of Mushoku Tensei. Highly looking forward to its second second part, but will do my best to hold off until it ends.

Yeah and S3 doesn't have jank cgi. Actually I don't think S2 has that much jank cgi, it's just really lazy animation with a lot of panning stills during battle. S3 is generally well produced though. Would be great if eventually they redid season 1 and 2 with good animation cause everything else is great once it starts for real (the first 15 episodes are whatever). I think kingdom might be favorite battle shonen. Hunter x hunter was my first place for a while but this is probably even better to me.

It's also refreshing to see war be a setting but NOT have the whole show talk about how awful war is. Like, yeah, I know it's awful, I'm not signing to go fight any time soon, let me see some cool battles in fiction though.

After seeing it repeatedly recommended in my NF feed, I decided to try an episode of Way of the Househusband. The animation is surprisingly terrible. I guess they did this thing where it's just colored panels with some mild movement, it's very jarring and uncomfortable. And the stories themselves are meh (guess it's probably one of 4koma or whatever series?)

I'm not sure if it's the worst thing I've ever seen, but the animation style is pretty bad. I'd rather even see that fuzzy style they did for Dr Katz than characters just standing motionless at times where I wonder if my screen froze.
