Clearly there is something going on we're not allowed to know about.

Perhaps it's some strategy where they're trying to deliberately collapse the government to install a puppet state and turn the nation into an American colony. Given Obama and Biden's middle-east policy which largely involved destabilizing the region's governments, I wouldn't be surprised if these collapses had been engineered so the US could rush in and seize greater power. Some of the strategies are reminiscent of what the US was doing to screw over central and South America.
