It shouldn't be a question of bravery/cowardice at all, just a matter of making an informed decision based on analyzing the risk (in which case, her decision is absolutely correct, given the extreme danger associated with "powering through" the problem). Because people get so uppity about it, making the decision in the face of that backlash is something that takes no small amount of courage. --- This is my signature.
