Topic	CDC to again recommend everyone mask up in crowded public areas

I just think it's hilarious how the same people who were screaming stuff like "Trust the science!" and "The CDC knows more than you ever could, don't rely on your own feelings/thoughts/research and just do whatever they tell you to do!" followed along and hand waved contradictory bullshit like how they said masks weren't needed back when this started, as long as they were making people more frightened, but the second they say something optimistic and in the opposite direction suddenly they're a bunch of heartless idiots who can't be trusted. Except that's not really the case at all, and most of the people complaining aren't really complaining for the reasons you're implying. It's more a case of... The CDC: Okay, the research suggests people won't need to wear masks if they're vaccinated. Idiots: Hey, did you hear that? Everybody can take their masks off now! The CDC: No, that's not what we said. Idiots: Everybody can take their masks off! Woo! Party! ... Idiots: Hey, wait, why are the infection numbers going up? The CDC: Because you didn't actually listen to what we said. Also, everyone should probably start wearing masks again because you're all fuck-ups. Idiots: Waaah! The CDC are evil and stupid! It also doesn't help when the US can't even get to 70% immunized to at least get something resembling herd immunity because stupids gotta stupid. But hey, I'm sure everyone will happily take personal responsibility and the blame for not getting vaccinated once we end up with a resistant strain and we wind up going back into another year-long lockdown, though. Everyone will obviously treat it with seriousness and the respect that it deserves, and will in no way blame literally everyone other than the people who are actually responsible for being fuck-ups.
