The problem is, that split doesn't just apply to Covid - and it's never going away because neither side is really willing to understand or compromise with the other, and the Internet only exacerbates and radicalizes extreme positions. No one's ever really going to listen to or accept the other's position when everyone views everyone else who disagrees with them as "the enemy", and dismisses them out of hand. The split is likely to continue getting much, much worse over the next few decades, not better. People blamed Trump for causing the divide (and the hostility), but it was already growing long before that.
