Let me guess, "viruses tend to mutate to be less lethal"? That seems to have been a favourite phrase over the past year among people that are trying to pretend they understand immunology and evolution.

Why do you believe that susceptibility to Covid infections has a genetic basis? For that matter, even if it is, those genes do not confer a selective advantage or disadvantage in a world where vaccines exist, so trying to describe them as "strong" or "weak" is just a fundamental misunderstanding of how evolution works.

Yeah, that assumption doesn't really work in the US. The CDC announced that masks weren't required for fully-vaccinated people (and only fully-vaccinated people) at a point when that described ~30% of the country, and within less than a month pretty much everyone had given up on masks. Now, cases are surging again (they're still only just barely flirting with 50% full vaccination) and it's a major uphill battle to try to get people to listen to restrictions again now that they need to be re-implemented.
