Scribblenauts
It works...it sucks

Perhaps one of the most well known letdowns of the NDS era but also maybe success stories cause despite its shortcomings everyone became aware of this crazy ambitious game. Scribblenauts blew up thanks to NEOGAF at the time who caught wind from some E3 demos and impressions. The game from 5th Cell sounded crazy ambitious.

Type words and the thing appears and you use this to solve puzzles. Imagination was defined by your words and it sounded like the dictionary would be huge. Well their are many words there and getting stuff to appear wasn't an issue. The issue was the thing no one expected, horrendous controls.

For some reason controlling Maxwell was down not with the dpad but the stylus making the screen room cramped and the game would get super confused about what you were trying to touch or activate. Not to mention 5th cell did a ton of action puzzles relying on shaky combat. Another poor move.

The sequel Super Scribblenauts would introduce adjectives and dpad control, it also switched the focus entirely to puzzle situations making the game so much better.

So yea Scribblenauts was a wow I can't believe this works and then the hard realization that a few shaky design choices bring the entire experience crashing to the ground.
