Seems pretty obvious that Joel would be one of the lookouts for the town. Joel never even has his last name revealed until his grave and were supposed to believe that she put two and two together without even that much, dont give Druckmann any credit for how they had their fateful encounter because its just that. You know how I thought Id hate this game but then I played it and my opinion changed is a common anecdote shared when it comes to this game? Yeah Im not obligated to feel the same way lol; I had TLOU1 spoiled for me too and that just made me want to finish it even more.
